These special varieties are only available at this time of year and in limited quantities. Many of our customers have, in previous annual vintage programs, discovered the fantastic value for money these kits provide, and the outstanding quality of the finished wines. NOW AVAILABLE Chilean Carmenere Malbec from Brewking Historically, Carmenere and Malbec were among the most important grapes grown in the prestigious wine region of Bordeaux. Now grown in limited amounts in Bordeaux, Carmenere and Malbec have had a resurgence in Chile. Carmenere was originally added to Bordeaux blends to add deep colour and tannic ‘grip’ to the wine, with its ‘super Merlot’ character of plumy cherry aromas and tight tannins. Malbec contributed lush fruity characters, making an intense, dark wine, echoing the old reputation of Malbec as ‘the black wine’. Full of colour, tannin and flavour, Carmenere-Malbec is a wine of great power and character, with blackberry, blackcurrant, red pepper, spice, liquorice and deep bittersweet notes. It is the perfect complement to steaks and pork chops, and is hearty enough for winter fare, stews and good hard cheeses. 16 litre kit to make 30 bottles £59.50 Californian Symphony from Brewking The award winning smash hit of the Limited Edition 2001 program, Symphony makes a much requested return. A grape that defies tradition and convention, it was created in California as a hybrid of two French grapes, the Muscat of Alexandria, a white grape of intensely aromatic, ‘grapey’ character, and Grenache Gris, a red grape. The resulting wine has incredibly intense aromas of melon, grapefruit, mango, peach. Banana and papaya, the fruity character picks up a strong backbone from the good acidity and hint of tannin carried over from the Grenache Gris. Symphony is fabulous as a social wine, for sitting on the patio with friends, and is excellent with spicy foods like Szechuan or even Mexican. It’s also great with sliced mango and papaya. 16 litre kit to make 30 bottles £59.50 Tempranillo/Cabernet Sauvignon from Wine Art This wonderful blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon pays tribute to the great wines of Spain's Ribera de Duero wine region. Traditional Spanish Tempranillo is blended with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, resulting in a deep, cherry colour with an intense and complex bouquet, rich in smokey, spicy tones over a base of ripe fruit (blackberry and strawberry). This dry red is full-bodied, with balanced fruit and a complex palate with hints of Oak. Great ageing capabilities, very palatable a few months after bottling. 6 litre kit to make 30 bottles £37.95, 15 litre kit to make 30 bottles £58.95. Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon from Wine Art This unique blend creates a deep garnet coloured, dry red wine of complex flavours and lingering mellow tannins. The dark cherry and spice aromas of Shiraz are interwoven with the more lifted Cabernet Sauvignon characters of strong, rich berry and cassis (blackcurrant) against a background of lightly toasted oak. After three to four months in the bottle, the wine will soften and mellow and will continue to improve for at least two to three years. 6 litre kit to make 30 bottles £37.95, 15 litre kit to make 30 bottles £58.95. Muscat/Sauvignon Blanc from Wine Art A marriage of aromatic Muscat and classic Sauvignon Blanc grapes, this dry white is elegant, crisp and refreshing with the characteristic grapiness of Muscat, highlighted by balanced acidity. A palate awash with peaches, oranges and other summer fruit follows a voluptuous and expressive nose of honeysuckle and grapefruit. This is a wine to drink and enjoy young. The perfect partner for seafood and white meat. 6 litre kit to make 30 bottles £37.95, 15 litre kit to make 30 bottles £58.95. Pinot Noir Blush from Wine Art This elegant Californian, slightly off-dry blush is a beautiful, soft salmon-pink colour with complex, fruity aromas and flavours of fresh strawberries with spicy hints at the finish. Outstanding for a variety of occasions. Be sure to serve slightly chilled. Quite palatable shortly after bottling. 6 litre kit to make 30 bottles £37.95, 15 litre kit to make 30 bottles £58.95. British Columbian Cabernet Merlot from Brewking 2003 was a hot year for the Okanagen Valley of British Columbia that provided a very rich harvest with incredibly ripe, flavourful grapes. Cool Okanagan nights allow the grapes to retain their intense varietal character, while hot days ensure fruity, deep flavours and smooth, luscious tannins. The Cabernet Sauvignon came from the award-winning Dry Hills Vineyard, on famous Black sage Road. Intense blackcurrant and blackberry aromas are very prominent. The Merlot comes from the Testa Linda and Stone Acre vineyards, outside of Oliver where the fruit retains its firm tannin and acidity while exhibiting aromas of black cherry, berry and plum. To top it off, we complement this gem with the enticing peppery notes of Cabernet Franc from the Hollensbach Vineyard on Skaha lake. While it will drink young, this wine will continue to develop its captivating flavours for years. Try with aged hard cheeses, steaks, lamb and beef dishes. 16 litre kit to make 30 bottles £59.50 Pioneer Reserve Lodi Old Vines Zinfandel/Syrah from Wine Art Calafornian wineries recently began blending Zinfandel's fruit forward flavours with the structure and tannins of syrah. The result is a full-bodied wine, dark garnet in colour, with ripe plum, spice and vanilla oak flavours that finish with classic peppery zinfandel notes. It's the perfect partner for red meat, flavourful pasta dishes and strong cheese. 6 litre kit to make 30 bottles £37.95, 15 litre kit to make 30 bottles £58.95. Pioneer Reserve Woodbridge Ranch Malvasia Bianca from Wine Art The orogins of this Mediterranean grape varietal date back 2,000 years, from a highly esteemed Greek family of grapes. In the 19th century, Italian immigrants introduced Malvasia Bianca to Calafornia. Our Woodbridge Ranch Malvasia Bianca makes a wonderfully aromatic wine with fruit and floral aromas. Light golden in colour, the flavours focus on mango, lichee and tangy citrus. This wine is beautifully balanced and nicely structured with a crisp yet opulent texture. A perfect aperitif or with a fruit and cheese platter or as a partner for spicy grilled seafood. . 6 litre kit to make 30 bottles £37.95, 15 litre kit to make 30 bottles £58.95. Californian Pinot Blanc from Brewking Winegrowing in the Russian River Valley is built on a long tradition that has recognised the potential of the fog-cooled climate and well-drained soils for producing some of the finest wines in the world. The appellation was formally established in 1983, and is one of the largest in Sonoma County. The Russian River valley is characterised by warm days and cool nights while the presence of fog is the regions single most important defining feature as it slows the maturation of local grapes in a way that creates exquisite balance. This Pinot Blanc exhibits the refreshing flavours of citrus, melon, grapefruit and apple, typical of the varietal. This Limited Edition Pinot Blanc creates a delicious, easy-to-like white wine that is well matched with seafood, pork and chicken. It is also excellent as an aperitif with olives and cheese. 16 litre kit to make 30 bottles £59.50 June RESERVE YOURS NOW Sicilian Primitivo Syrah from Brewking Sicily is a small, majestic island off the tip of southern Italy. Small though it is, it produces astonishing quantities of wine, making it a powerhouse-growing region, with a perfect Mediterranean climate and excellent soils. Primitivo, the grape that North Americans know as Zinfandel, is ideally suited to the Sicilian climate producing dark wines of rich power and substance. Syrah, though a recent transplant to Sicily, produces deep red wines, with plum, berry and spice notes. Together, these two grapes make an intense fruity wine, balanced with vanilla and smoke notes. This wine exudes rich aromas of plums, berries, tobacco, prunes and red cherries, with the Italian signature of firm tannins and a long, gripping finish. This rich Italian blend stands up to any red meat dish, and is excellent with grilled meats, barbecue and meat-based pasta sauces. 16 litre kit to make 30 bottles £59.50 | |||
