Malt Extract

Brupaks malt extracts are produced by Muntons from the finest quality brewing grade malts using traditional brewhouse procedures. We believe them to be the best in the world. Beers rivaling the best 'mashed' brews can be produced using these extracts. These extracts are exclusive to Brupaks and are not available under the Muntons label. They are available in both 1.5kg cans and 15kg jerricans.

Edme

Edme Maris Otter Malt Extract

Maris Otter barley is grown in the temperate climate of East Anglia, famed for producing malting barley of the finest quality for award winning beers through the ages. Prized for years by traditional British breweries for its unique sugar spectrum & flavour profile, especially in premium pale ales, Maris Otter is a low nitrogen, traditionally floor made 2-row malt. The world's finest ale making malt is now available as an extract for the discerning brewer. This unique 'single varietal' malt extract is made from 100% Maris Otter malted barley and is available in 1.5kg cans.

Edme DMS & SFX Malt Extracts

SFX (Super Flavex) is ideal for brewing darker beers, which are enhanced by its rich amber colour. For lighter beers EDME's unique DMS (Diastatic Malt Syrup) has the benefit of a naturally high enzyme level, which converts starch from unmalted cereals into fermentable sugar. DMS has also traditionally been used as a 'remedy' for poor quality mashes. Both extracts are available in 0.907kg, 1.5kg, 6.25kg and 25kg.

Sugar

Although we do not usually advocate the use of sugar in brewing, an exception is made in the case of some Belgian beers where special sugars are used. A characteristic of many Belgian beers is that they are very high in alcohol but are not heavy, either in body or flavour. This is achieved by adding quite large quantities of candi sugars to the copper. Unlike refined or invert sugars these special sugars add flavour as well as alcohol to beer and their use is essential when brewing Belgian ales.

Belgian Candi Sugar

Light Crystals and Syrup: use for all pale beers especially Abbey style and 'Tripels'.
Dark Crystals and Syrup: use for darker styles, particularly 'Dubbels'.
